I can just announce if you need more documentation on libacpi you can look into some source apart from
test-libacpi.c.

Today I got a mail by Folkert Vanheusden (author of several cool programs) telling me that he wrote
acpitail which shows acpi information in a tail(1) like interface.

With or without extensions?

Yes there are remote vulnerabilities caused by extensions and I am really laughing my ass off since I talked about this with people 2 years ago. Specifically I talked about these extensions as a broken security concept because a) everyone can upload them to mozdev even with malicious code with a fancy name (ok we have certificates now but that doesn't save you from bad code in extensions. Ok you can also have bugs in FF itself but I hope the code gets checked better than random extensions) and b) bugs introduced by extensions.

Q: Why is this attack possible?

A: The problem stems from design flaws, false assumptions, and a lack of solid developer documentation instructing extension authors on the best way to secure their code.

I am sorry if this sounds arrogant but in my opinion it was obvious that this will happen some time. And possible security flaws introduced by extensions really were just one reason for me in the past to not use Firefox.

There are a lot of inofficial debian domains (known as debian.net domains). Some of then are really useful like changelogs.debian.net for example and others are just funny.

However I thought it might be useful to have a list of all debian.net domains so I wrote a small script.

After reading that Wolfgang Schäuble (in my opinion one of the biggest assholes we have in Germany) will be the patron of the LinuxTag I am really not sure if I will visit the LinuxTag. This would be my first time cause I had the impression that the LinuxTag is a) very commercial oriented (aka for business users) and b) Karlsruhe was always too far away for me.

I guess a big part of the critics against the plans of Schäuble are people from the OS,FS,Linux, and now this event has him as patron?
I am sorry to say this, but whoever made this decision, FUCK OFF!

And yes I know that it's tradition to use the Bundesinnenministerium for the patron but this is really overkill!

While going to university today I found out why

I recently read that there are 5611 free .ch domains of 26^3 (17576) with three letters.

I thought this might be interesting for .de too. I wrote a small script to automatically
test this and the output this morning is:

17576 possible domain names -114=1762, 0 free .de domains

-114 is for domains you can't register for example because some of them are country codes.
Interesting result I think, there is no free .de domain with 3 letters.
Damn domain grabbers!

The script uses output by whois so if you want to use it, be sure you use the same whois version I do (GNU whois 4.7.21).
