Manufacturing Dissent is a movie that shows up some interesting personal traits of
Michael Moore. Depending on if all information in this film is true or not it's really strange to see how he manages to not really say something wrong but cut the film scenes as they would have had a totally different meaning in the original.
A big part of the film is about
Roger & Me, one of the older Moore films in which Moore tries unsuccessfully to get an interview with
Roger Smith. Then it's really funny to see the attempts of the Manufactoring Dissent guys to get an interview with him. No chance. There weren't even allowed to record Michaels voice on some event while other non-critical journalists were allowed to.
I am somehow disappointed, before seeing this movie it was already clear to me that not everything Moore shows looks really plausible and I also didn't like him personally but after watching this movie it somehow turns out that he is just another dickhead who gives scenes by other people a totally different meaning by cutting them, then saying this is what freedom of art is for (in a documentary). He is a showman who wants to make money and who makes use of people who think what he says is right (I am not saying that he says or quotes anything that didn't happen but looking at the original scenes it is obvious that they had a differen meaning before the cut. I also don't want to say that his films are bad in every aspect or useless). I can really recommend this movie if you saw one of Moores' movies.
