Thanks Mika...
I needed:

for i in cyrus21-kolab*
do
mv "$i" "cyrus22${i/cyrus21}"
done

very often in the last weeks....

There is also mmv (http://packages.debian.org/mmv) and rename in Debian's perl package), which do the same job. Especially the last one is installed most Debian boxes. And then there is also a rename in other distributions (e.g. SuSE), which unfortunately works similar as but simpler than mmv...
