With Google Earth you will get a look on the whole earth.

The features are:

One of the bad news is that there is no binary for Linux and my tries to let it run under Cedega/Wine failed so I had no
possibility to test the software.

Google wouldn't be google If you wouldn't be able to search for Locations with the software.

You have the possibility to buy an additional pack (Google Earth plus)
which provides GPS integration and some other goodies.
