wrote a nice article about how to effective edit text files and code.

There are some very useful tips like to use gd to jump from the use of a variable to its local declaration.

Off course some of them are well known.

Notux is dead!

My old Nec versa 550D color notebook is dead. It was born in 1995.
Hardware data:
1 GB HDD
8 mb RAM
586er Intel 100 Mhz

RIP notux.

I plundered it a little bit and all I got is the keyboard and the
hard disk.

Does somebody know how to use a notebook keyboard as a regular?

ProSilla is a program which accelerates file transfers over ssh
by opening multiple connections just like other download
accelerators. The only difference is that proSilla uses ssh
instead of http/ftp for download. Of course you must have a
shell account on the remote server to use this program.

Hotel Ruanda

Yesterday I saw the movie Hotel Ruanda. It's a story about the genocide between Hutus and Tutsis in Ruanda in 1994.
The UNO was defenseless and the rest of the world sit and watched too but done nothing.
I the film there is a youn man called Paul Rusesabagina (it is real, he lives in Belgium today) who helped more than 1000
escapees, boarded and nourished them in the hotel in which he was the manager.

If I would have the email address of this man I only would send him a mail with THANKS!
The film is great but horrifyingly too because it was real!

Linux godchilds

Linux godchilds(it's in german) is a new project which will ease the entrance for
linux newbies. You can subscribe as a Linux godfather and then you will get someone who is new to Linux and gets the license to bomb you with emails

Nice project (even if I have no time to do this).

Bypass compulsory web registration via Firefox’s right-click context menu.

I found the nice Firefox BugMeNot extension.
You know the websites on which you have to fill some useless information about you name, age, etc.?

But you want to fill in these anonymous without registering an email address at a free mailer?
That's what it's for. This extension searches in the BugMeNot data base for valid account data you can use
and provides it.

If there is no data for this website you get a pop-up window with which you can register data.
